LYRICS

I’ve dreamed
the fantasy you spoke of
that image, that room and that look
they were mine and yours
I’ve dreamed
the legacy your scared of
Me in my t-shirt; the coffee on-line
Times on the table
and the thought that you were mine

But, if you say you love me, don’t worry,
the dress won’t be made
and if you say you need me
there’ll be no shackles or chains
Just you—and me,
sharing our thoughts
on what we want to be

I’ve seen the comfort you give me
our legs intertwined
and no thoughts in our minds
just you and me
I’ve seen the closeness that holds you
that hair out of place,
the jokes and that smile,
and your hands on my face
the fears I left behind

But, if you say you love me, don’t worry,
the dress won’t be made
and if you say you need me
there’ll be no shackles or chains
Just you—and me,
sharing our thoughts
on what we want to be

I’ve dreamed
the hope that may bind us
some honesty in your feelings,
some clarity in your words
just you and me
I’ve dreamed
the love that looms o’er us
Me and my music,
and you and your dreams
The coffee on the table
and no more in-betweens

But, if you say you love me, don’t worry,
the dress won’t be made
and if you say you need me
there’ll be no shackles or chains
Just you—and me,
sharing our thoughts
on what we want to be
Just you—and me,
sharing our thoughts
on what we want to be

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:

The only real love song I've ever written and I still couldn't let it have a real happy ending, or be too positive. Love and relationships are work. But they are work you shouldn't think too much about. This was me saying, just sit back and enjoy the ride.--CT
